I am a Montreal based artist who rediscovered painting after spending many years as a fashion designer. With a college degree in fine arts, I chose to pursue a different path and worked in the fashion industry for over 18 years. After a while, the human body as my only medium, felt too narrow and the system became suffocating. I needed a wider spectrum with total freedom in creative expression, and rediscovered my roots as a young woman in art school, enjoying pure creation without boundaries.

I communicate with the viewer through the eyes of my subjects. I am in a non stop process of finding beauty in the mundane and capturing the moment.

More recently, I let the work itself guide me through an intuitive mixed media layering technique, then the final painting is more personal and more interesting for the observer as well.

My portraits capture the sense of being, where the beauty and timelessness of the world come into sharp focus. The women I paint are subtle yet strong, bold yet delicate; balancing these contradictions provide individuality to each piece.

 I am interested in capturing moments of expression that portray the human psyche, of blurring the line between fact and fiction. I think of these works as character studies rather than portraits.

Je peins des visages pour capter l’émotion qui les animes.

Jouer sur l’expression du personnage, les choix de couleurs et l’ajout d’éléments abstraits, cela donne aux oeuvres une énergie unique.

Les toiles sont un zoom sur un sentiment fort, des visages plus vrai que nature. Détaillées, les toiles enveloppent le spectateur se présentant comme une invitation au voyage.

Je n’aborde pas chaque travail avec la même technique, qui est toujours en évolution. Pour certaine toiles, il existe un parcours prévu vers un résultat attendu, le plus souvent dans les peintures acryliques. Cependant, plus récemment j’ai laisse l’œuvre elle-même me guider a travers une technique intuitive de superposition de supports mixtes, puis la peinture finale est quelque chose de plus personnel, ce qui la rend plus interessante pour l’observateur.
